This was a brief that requested a new packaging for a new nut product aimed at rock climbers (strange I know! but really fun to play with).
Idea generation is such a fun part of design and I love when you come up with a name that works but also gives you a little wry smile, for me this was rough nuts!
I used traditional media to paint a custom type face as well as brush marks that were used to tie the rest of the design together. The part that I enjoyed the most was thumb-nailing out potential designs and then using the sketches to begin my illustrations for the packets. The mountain and sun burst were made using vector art and then I used acrylics to paint each of the adventurers in their scene.
The banding at the top and bottom of the design bring in the aztec influences which are associated with many mountain climbing paraphernalia and similar patterns were a reoccurring idea across my mood boards.
Each of the flavours would have a corresponding colour that would allow a consumer to simply make a fast selection in a store.
